ITINERARY

Dining under the stars at the K.C. Grande Restaurant

How to spend 3 blissful days on Koh Chang? Here is a schedule of activities for you to try. Some of these activities can be booked at your hotel or resort’s activities center, or activity organizers sprawled along the road or the beach. Others can be arranged at your convenient pace and time.

Option 1: The West Coast of Koh Chang

Day 1
A typical road trip to Koh Chang from Bangkok will have to start preferably before 12:00 noon, because the trip takes 5 hours and the last ferry to the island leaves at 07:00 p.m. Traveling by plane takes 50 minutes. After a 30-minute ferry trip to the island, check in and rest for a while. After lunch at the resort, have a massage at the Aiya Spa at the Aiyapura Resort and Spa or at the Koh Chang Grand Orchid Resort & Spa to soothe those tired muscles and ease jet lag away. During the evening go down to the White Sand Beach and have dinner under the stars at the K.C. Grande Resort or at the White Sand Beach Resort, then check the local bar scene at Sabay Bar. After a night of partying, it’s time to go back to the resort.

Day 2
Get to know the island by taking a half day trip that will take you along the West coast of Koh Chang. Before heading for breakfast, approach the resort’s reception to hire a van with a driver or rent a jeep to drive by yourself. Here is a suggested route:

09:00 a.m.: Depart from the resort and visit the Chao Po Koh Chang at Ao Sapparos.
09:45 a.m.: Head west to the Viewpoint at the curve before going down to the White  Sand Beach
10:00 a.m.: Stop at Kai Bae Viewpoint for another spectacular view of the nearby islands of Koh Yuak, Koh Man Nai, and Koh Man Nok
11:00 a.m.: Shop for souvenir products along the Bang Bao Fishing Village
12:00 noon: Lunch at Bang Bao and rest for awhile
01:00 p.m.: Back to the resort

In the afternoon, laze around the beach and take time to relax or enjoy the island’s spectacular sunset. Head down to the The Coco Beach Restaurant at the Koh Chang Cliff Beach Resort or at the K.B. Resort on Kai Bae Beach for dinner.

Day 3
Like all days, you need to start with a sumptuous breakfast at your resort. After a short rest, catch more sunshine by kayaking or canoeing along the beach. Pack up and get ready for lunch. Most resorts have check out time at 12:00 noon.

Option 2: Koh Chang and Beyond

Day 1
Reaching the island in the afternoon, have lunch then book for a therapy at the Aar Spa at the Aana Resort and Spa on Klong Prao Beach or the Apsara Spa at the Chang Buri Resort and Spa on White Sand Beach Resort. Spend the rest of the day with a good book on the beach, or just watch the time go by. During the early evening, have a light dinner and head for a squid fishing trip at the Koh Chang Resort & Spa. This activity, however, needs prior booking. Prepare some Japanese  wasabe, soy sauce, something to cook on and you have a fresh squid dinner aboard the fishing boat. Your dinner will consist of your catch for the night so be sure to swing that hook and line real far! Don’t worry, though, the skipper will ensure you’ll catch your dinner. He’ll attract the squids with bright floodlights so you can scoop them up easily if you are unlucky with the hook and line.

After that, catch a good night’s sleep in preparation for tomorrow’s activity.

Day 2
Get to know the other islands of the Koh Chang Marine National Park. Be sure to make a prior booking. The island hopping trip usually starts at the Bang Bao Fishing Village, which is inclusive of lunch, fruits, and beverage.

08:00 a.m.: Depart from the resort
09:00 a.m.: Arrival at the Bang Bao Fishing Village
09:30-10:00 a.m.: Snorkeling at Koh Khlum (around Hin Look
Bard and Hin Larp)
10:30-11:30 a.m.: Snorkeling at Koh Rang
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Lunch and rest time at the same island
12:30 p.m.-01:30 p.m.: Snorkeling at Koh Wai
01:30 p.m.-02:30 p.m.: More snorkeling and sightseeing at Koh Laoya
03:00 p.m.: Go back to Koh Chang

Rest at the resort and have dinner at the Fueng Fa Restaurant at the Klong Prao Resort or at the Remark Cottage Resort on Klong Prao beach.

Day 3
After a late breakfast at the resort, spend some time in the warm waters of your resort’s swimming pool - if the place where you stay has one. Make sure to be ready to leave the resort by noontime.

Conquer the many waterfalls of the island

Option 3: Wonders of the Rainforest

Day 1
Upon reaching the island, have lunch at the resort after you have checked in properly. After that, book for a massage at the Barali Beach Resort & Spa or at the V.J. Hotel and Health Spa. The rest of the day is for you to practice the art of doing nothing. Better yet, why not head down to the beach and rent a kayak or a canoe and explore the area. During the evening, head down to the White Sand Beach for a relaxing dinner atop a Banyan tree at the Tonsai Restaurant.

Day 2
After breakfast at the resort, join a Thai Cooking Class and get to taste your very own creation for  lunch. Afterward, visit one of the island’s hidden wonders - the Klong Plu Waterfall. This time, rather than having a fine dining experience at a restaurant, why not try roughing it up? Before heading for the waterfall, there are food stalls at the entrance where you can buy lunch and carry it for a picnic at the rest area near the waterfall.  In the afternoon, since you are in the area, go for a 2-hour elephant trekking at Baan Chang Thai on Klong Prao Beach. After heading back to the resort for a quick shower and change, head to the Aana Resort and Spa for the evening’s activity – the firefly tour. After that, end the day with a sumptuous dinner at the Cinnamon Restaurant at the same resort.

Day 3
Spend the rest of the morning soaking up more sun and sea, or just get that perfect tan while having a foot massage on the beach. Pack up early this time, check out and head to the Salakphet Seafood & Resort for lunch. This is only possible if there is not much cumbersome luggage to carry around. Otherwise, might as well take your lunch at the resort.
